A Yorkshire coastline was sealed off on Saturday morning after a woman was found dead on a Teesside beach.
Emergency services rushed to the slipway at Marske beach shortly after the body was discovered. Police, paramedics and senior medical staff attended the scene as shocked locals looked on.
Cleveland Police later confirmed the woman was 70-year-old and said her family had been informed. Officers stressed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
“Around 7.30am on Saturday, December 13, police received a report of a woman’s body found on the slipway to Marske beach,” a police spokesperson said.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner,” they added.
The local ambulance service said it sent a paramedic ambulance and a clinical team leader to the scene shortly after.
The beach remained under police presence for several hours as initial checks were carried out. Authorities have not released further details.
