A DoorDash delivery in Vanderburgh County, Indiana ended in chaos after a driver allegedly sprayed a couple’s food with pepper spray, leaving the wife choking and vomiting.

Kourtney Stevenson was arrested after doorbell footage showed her tampering with the order of Mark Cardin and his wife on 7 December. The couple only realised something was wrong when Cardin’s wife began vomiting after taking a few bites.

“I noticed my wife had started eating, and she started choking and gasping… after a couple of bites, she actually threw up,” Cardin told local outlet 14 News.

Suspicious residue in the delivery parcel prompted the couple to check their home security footage, revealing Stevenson’s act. The video was handed over to authorities, resulting in her arrest.

Stevenson reportedly told authorities she had sprayed the food because she was 'terrified' of spiders.

County Sheriff Noah Robinson was not convinced: “Spiders don’t crawl around in winter and the low that night was somewhere around 35 degrees.”

Stevenson now faces two counts of consumer product tampering causing harm and two counts of battery. DoorDash has revoked her license and refunded the couple.
