Six teenagers shot, injured after late-night NYC shooting

A night meant for celebration turned violent in Brooklyn, New York after six teenagers were shot and taken to hospital in the early hours of Sunday.

Police were called to the Cypress Hills area shortly after receiving reports of multiple people being shot outside Burbuja Events, Newsweek reports.

When officers arrived, they found six teenagers suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.

The injured included two 15-year-old girls, four boys aged 15 and 16, and 17. One of the girls had been shot in the chest, hip and leg, while the others suffered gunshot wounds to their arms, legs and foot. All six were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Earlier that evening, a Sweet 16 party had taken place at Burbuja Events. The celebration had ended well before the shooting and stressed that the incident happened outside after the event was over, the outlet further cited the police as saying.

The NYPD said it is continuing to investigate what led to the shooting. No arrests have been announced.
