Matthew McConaughey’s wet dream led real-life wrestling battle
The 'Dallas Buyers Club' star previously credited similar dreams that led him to meet his wife
Matthew McConaughey has opened up about his never-ending wet dreams, leaving fans stunned.
In his Lyrics of Livin’ newsletter published Friday, January 9, the Oscar-winning actor revealed that a vivid “wet dream” in 2001 ultimately pushed him to travel to Africa, where he ended up in a full-blown wrestling match in a small village.
The Interstellar star recalled having the dream while staying at a hotel in Dublin, describing it as a powerful and strangely peaceful vision that lingered with him long after he woke up.
Inspired by it, he booked a one-way ticket to Mali and traveled deep into the region, eventually reaching a remote village with the help of a local guide.
To keep a low profile, the actor told locals his name was David and claimed he was a writer and boxer.
Furthermore, McConaughey was soon challenged by a man identified as the village’s champion wrestler.
What followed, he wrote, was an intense, WWE-style fight in a dirt pit, with villagers gathering to watch as the two men grappled through multiple rounds.
Neither fighter won, and the match was ultimately stopped by the village chief after both were left exhausted and injured.
Reflecting on the experience, McConaughey summed it up simply, the fight happened because he followed a dream literally.”
The actor has previously credited similar dreams, including the one that led him to meet his wife, Camila Alves.
