Julia Roberts earns standing ovation at Golden Globes after onstage moment
The 'Pretty Woman' star presented the award to Paul Thomas Anderson’s 'One Battle After Another'
Julia Roberts has not won any awards, but still emerged as one of the Golden Globes' most celebrated figures.
The Oscar winner received a full standing ovation from the audience at the Beverly Hilton on January 11, as she took the stage to present the award for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy.
Roberts was seen smiling at the reception, encouraging the remaining seated guests to join in, joking, “Yup. Everybody! Let’s go! In the back!”
She even singled out Emma Stone, quipping that the actress looked confused by the moment.
“I’m going to be impossible for at least a week,” Roberts said of the warm response. “I appreciate that.”
“What a great night. What a beautiful night to be an artist. This is 2026. We’re going straight to the top on this.”
The Pretty Woman star ultimately presented the award to Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.
Earlier in the evening, Roberts was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for After the Hunt, though the award went to Jessie Buckley for Hamnet.
During her acceptance speech, Buckley praised Roberts, calling her “a hero to us all.”
