A medical professional in Florida has been arrested following a bizarre shoplifting incident at a local Target store.

Dr Lindsey Jae Minshew, 40, a licensed doctor since 2012, was taken into custody on Friday by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

She now faces a charge of grand theft after allegedly walking out with over $2,700 (£2,100) worth of products from the shop on River City Drive.

According to the official arrest and booking report, a Target employee raised the alarm, claiming “that the suspect stole $2,716.61 worth of merchandise."

While authorities have not yet specified exactly what was taken, the details surrounding the arrest have stunned the local community.

Police noted that Minshew’s black 2024 Porsche 911 arrived at the scene roughly half an hour before she entered the shop.

In a surprising twist, officers discovered that the luxury vehicle she was driving had also been reported as stolen.

Minshew was booked into jail but released the following day on Saturday. It currently remains unclear whether she has hired a solicitor to defend her against the felony charges.

The Florida Department of Health records confirm she has been a practising medical professional for over a decade, making the allegations of high-value theft and a stolen getaway car particularly shocking.

As the investigation continues, the medical community and public alike are left wondering how a successful doctor found herself at the centre of such a high-stakes criminal case.
