Husband shoots wife post-childbirth at hospital in Alabama
An Alabama man reportedly shot his wife to death just after childbirth
An Alabama man reportedly shot his wife to death just after childbirth, before taking his own life in what appears to be a murder-suicide situation.
Homewood, Alabama police stated they responded to gunfire at the Women’s Center of Brookwood Hospital on Sunday (March 1).
Upon arrival, officers found both a woman, who was a patient there, and a man deceased from gunshot injuries. No additional individuals were harmed.
Authorities suspect the case is a murder-suicide.
WVTM, WBRC, and AL.com revealed that the deceased were identified as Precious Johnson, 24, and her spouse, Kynath William Terry Jr., 19.
According to a coroner's report cited by WVTM, Johnson, who was shot several times by Terry, had only just given birth.
The source interviewed Terry's mother, who mentioned the couple was facing marital struggles but she was unaware of her son's violent tendencies.
Danne Howard, the head of the Alabama Hospital Association, shared insights with WBRC following the tragic event.
“There are certain places in this world where we should feel secure — like in our places of worship, in hospitals, and at home," Howard stated to the outlet.
"Regretfully, circumstances occur, and we lose that sense of security. We want to reassure the community that our hospitals and health care workers treat safety with as much priority as they do delivering top-quality health care."
