Illinois man charged with murder after girlfriend's body found in dumpster
Police discovered 50-year-old Colleen Bagley inside a dumpster on Landmeier Road
A 54-year-old Illinois man has been charged with first-degree murder after the body of his girlfriend was discovered inside a hotel dumpster.
Arturo F. Taylor, of Fox Lake, was arrested following the grim discovery of 50-year-old Colleen Bagley at an extended-stay hotel in Elk Grove Village.
Emergency services were called to the scene in the early hours of 25 February, where they found Ms Bagley unresponsive. A medical examiner later confirmed she had died from multiple sharp force injuries.
Prosecutors allege that a domestic dispute broke out in the couple’s hotel room, during which Taylor reportedly stabbed Bagley multiple times.
Crucial security footage appears to show Taylor walking toward the hotel’s disposal area at approximately 2:00am carrying a heavy bin bag.
Following a swift investigation, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the murder charge on 27 February.
The victim's brother, Jason Ehardt, expressed his profound grief over the sudden loss. “I wish we had more time together," he told The Chicago Tribune. "I’m gonna miss her."
Local police have sought to reassure the public, stating that the attack was an isolated incident with no broader threat to the community.
In a formal statement, the Elk Grove Village Police Department offered "heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased."
It remains unclear whether Taylor has entered a plea or secured legal representation, as the community grapples with the shock of a life cut tragically short by domestic violence.
