A tragic hit-and-run in Orange County, Florida, left a man in a wheelchair and his dog dead, while a woman who was with them remains hospitalized in stable but critical condition.

The incident occurred Thursday night around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Lee Road and Adanson Street, authorities said.

A 2021 Lexus ES reportedly ran off the road, struck a median, and collided with the three victims who were standing there.

The man in the wheelchair and the dog were pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to a hospital with injuries described as stable but critical.

Debris from the crash also struck a 2006 Toyota Tacoma that was stopped in the westbound left-turn lane, though the driver was not seriously injured.

The Lexus continued traveling eastbound after the collision and was later discovered abandoned in a nearby parking lot, showing damage consistent with the crash.

Authorities are actively investigating and working to identify the driver, and the case remains open.

Officials are urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact law enforcement as the search for the responsible driver continues.

This heartbreaking incident has prompted renewed calls for awareness of pedestrian safety and the dangers of drivers fleeing the scene after collisions.
