Daniel Radcliffe revealed emotional catalyst behind his significant lifestyle
Daniel Radcliffe admitted that becoming a parent altered his perspective on life
Daniel Radcliffe has shared a surprising revelation regarding the personal turning point that led him to quit smoking after two decades of heavy use.
In a recent interview with Vulture, the Harry Potter star explained that becoming a father served as the primary incentive to abandon the habit.
Radcliffe, who shares a young son with his long-term partner Erin Drake, admitted that he had previously shown little interest in quitting until the arrival of his child triggered a profound shift in his perspective.
The actor noted that the sudden onset of intrusive thoughts regarding his own mortality provided the necessary urgency to seek a healthier lifestyle for the sake of his family.
"I have just quit smoking — not 'just' anymore, but I'm going to talk about it, because I would like to mention this book to anybody who's interested in quitting smoking," Radcliffe stated.
He credited a specific guide, The Easy Way to Quit Smoking by Allen Carr, for his success. "I smoked for 20 years pretty heavily, and I was never even thinking about quitting, and then shortly after having my son, the intrusive thoughts of my own death really helped as an incentive to quit," he added.
Beyond his cessation of smoking, the actor revealed he has become increasingly dedicated to intensive physical fitness, including weightlifting and cardio.
"I feel like I’m a cliché of a former alcoholic or anyone who had any kind of addictive personality and then switched that addiction to being about the gym," Radcliffe noted.
Since finding global fame as a teenager, Daniel Radcliffe has continued to evolve as a versatile performer.
