Ray Romano celebrates arrival of first grandson Rex Roman
Ray Romano becomes a grandfather as his daughter Ally welcomes a baby boy
The actor and comedian Ray Romano has officially entered a new chapter of life as a grandfather. His daughter, Ally Romano, took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce the birth of her first child, a son named Rex Roman Wilezol.
The thirty-five-year-old publicist revealed that the infant arrived on 25 February 2026, describing him as a "trooper" who has already shown his parents a "new meaning to love."
Despite a slightly unexpected start to their journey as parents, Ally noted that Rex arrived with "very long legs, massive hands, and a full head of hair."
The sixty-eight-year-old "Everybody Loves Raymond" star had previously expressed his immense excitement for this milestone.
During an appearance on the "Today" show in February, Romano joked about the perks of being a grandparent, noting that he looked forward to playing with the baby before handing him back when he "smells."
He also shared his intention to be called "Papa Ray," a nod to his own father, who was known as "Papa Al." This birth marks the first grandchild for Ray and his wife, Anna Romano, who are also parents to thirty-three-year-old twins Matthew and Gregory, and twenty-eight-year-old Joseph.
Ally married her husband, Zachary Wilezol, in a lavish ceremony at the New York Public Library in September 2024.
The couple, who first met at a bar in 2021, have frequently shared glimpses of their life in New York City on social media.
Ray Romano famously recalled his own nervous start to fatherhood when Ally was born, including an incident where his car was towed, forcing them to take a yellow cab home from the hospital.
Fortunately, the family reports that the transition for this new generation has been significantly smoother.
