Netflix sets June 25 premiere for 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' season 2 with new poster
Aang and his friends enter the Earth Kingdom capital, Ba Sing Se, in the new season
Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is returning with its highly anticipated second season, set to premiere on June 25, two years and four months after the debut of Season 1.
The new season follows Aang (Gordon Cormier) and his team as they venture into the Earth Kingdom, bringing their fight against Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) to a whole new level.
Fans will also get their first look at the iconic city of Ba Sing Se, recreated in stunning detail on an outdoor set led by production designer Michael Wylie.
In a behind-the-scenes video, the cast and crew give viewers a glimpse of the intricate sets and the effort that went into bringing the Earth Kingdom capital to life.
Executive producer Jabbar Raisani spoke about the growth of the characters in Season 2.
“Our goal for Season 1 was to introduce the audience to this group of characters that were kids in the middle of a war zone. And [in] Season 2, we take those kids and they grow. But growth is not a straight line. … They're really trying to figure out who they are.”
Season 2 will also introduce Toph Beifong, a blind earthbending master and one of the franchise’s most beloved characters, played by Miyako.
Her addition promises to bring a fresh dynamic to Aang’s journey as he and his friends continue to face new challenges in a world at war.
