Jessica Simpson is clearing the air on a long-standing rumor about her beauty routine, revealing the truth behind her iconic bronzed look during her time as Daisy Duke.

In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, Simpson addressed speculation that she once spent up to $1,000 a week on tanning treatments. Dismissing the claim, she said the figure was far from reality.

“No, $1,000? Gosh. I’d rather have lain out in the sun,” she remarked, joking that such a budget might only make sense if it included a vacation.

The rumor, which dates back to 2014, suggested the star heavily invested in spray tans and tanning products to maintain her signature glow.

However, Simpson clarified that while she didn’t spend excessively, achieving the look did require effort—especially during the filming of The Dukes of Hazzard.

Portraying the iconic character Daisy Duke, Simpson said maintaining a consistent tan became a key part of her on-set routine during the four-month shoot.

“I had to be tan… I was damn near naked the whole time,” she explained, noting that confidence played a major role in her approach.

To achieve the desired look, Simpson relied on a combination of spray tanning and body makeup, while also maintaining a natural base tan to avoid an overly artificial appearance.

“It was all thought out,” she said, describing the process as a carefully planned “glow strategy.”
