Fox renews 'Memory of a Killer' for season 2

Fox is celebrating a successful start with its rookie drama lineup. The network has ordered another season of Memory of a Killer.

This announcement comes as Season 1 of the thriller, starring Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli, wraps up with its finale tonight, April 6.

This follows the renewal of Fox’s other new drama, Best Medicine, featuring Josh Charles.

Aaron Zelman and Glenn Kessler will remain as showrunners for Memory Of a Killer, which is based on the book and the 2003 Belgian movie De Zaak Alzheimer.

They took over midway through the series’ 10-episode initial season, succeeding original co-showrunners and developers Ed Whitmore & Tracey Malone and David Schulner.

Memory of a Killer, produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment, premiered with high visibility following the NFC Championship Game in January.

The debut reached 16.2 million viewers across different platforms and repeat broadcasts.

Memory of a Killer also became Fox's most streamed drama debut in six years with 1.9 million viewers, since 9-1-1: Lone Star, which premiered on January 19, 2020.

Although the series has experienced a drop in traditional ratings, a common trend for serialised TV dramas, Memory of a Killer has emerged as a strong performer on Hulu, with new episodes available the following day.

It regularly appears in the streamer’s Daily Top 10. The show’s strong digital presence — marked by Fox’s largest streaming audience of the season so far with 1.4 million views in 7-day viewing — played a significant role in securing its extension for another season.

Memory of a Killer stars Dempsey as Angelo Flannery/Doyle, who lives a risky double life while hiding a more perilous secret — his memory is deteriorating.

His predicament deepens when he unearths that his wife's recent demise might not have been an accident.

When threats extend to his pregnant daughter Maria (Odeya Rush), it becomes evident that his dual worlds have collided. Angelo must investigate his past assignments for leads, which are extensive.

Imperioli portrays Dutch Forlanni, a skilled Italian chef whose restaurant serves as a cover for illegal activities.

Dutch is not just Angelo's oldest friend, but also his boss — he assigns Angelo his targets. The ensemble cast also includes Richard Harmon, Peter Gadiot, and Daniel David Stewart.

Memory of a Killer is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment. Executive producers are Dempsey, Zelman, and Kessler. Arthur Sarkissian and Martin Campbell also serve as executive producers, alongside Peter Bouckaert from Eyeworks.
