Karol G opened up about the inspiration and reassurance behind one of her boldest career moves yet.

The 35-year-old global star revealed that before posing for Playboy, there was only one person she turned to for advice: fellow Colombian icon Sofía Vergara.

“The only person I asked if I should do it or not was Sofía Vergara,” Karol G shared. “I called her and told her, ‘If you tell me not to do it, I won’t.’”

According to the singer, Vergara’s response was both humorous and empowering.

She encouraged Karol G to embrace the opportunity, while also reminding her to be intentional about her decision.

“She said, ‘This moment will have a reason. What is going to be your reason?’” Karol G recalled.

For the chart-topping artist, the answer was simple: self-expression and confidence.

The shoot, which features her posing topless with her hands covering her chest, was a chance to celebrate her own sense of beauty and femininity.

“Why do I want to do this? Because I want to,” she explained. “I grew up inspired by how beautiful the women in the magazine looked, and now I have the opportunity to be that.”

Beyond the photoshoot, Karol G also reflected on her personal growth and current mindset.

The singer shared that she is embracing single life, viewing it as a period of self-discovery and evolution.

“I’m letting go of everything. I’m single, and I’ve always thought that my most evolutionary moments come when I’m alone,” she said.

Coming from a traditional background, she acknowledged the pressure to fully invest in relationships, sometimes at the cost of one’s identity. Now, she is focused on maintaining balance and knowing when to walk away.

“You have to work on yourself so a relationship can work,” she added. “And also do the work so you can leave when you recognize it’s not right.”
