Halle Bailey connects personal life lessons to You, Me & Tuscany role
Halle Bailey hopes audiences connect with her resilient character Anna
The acclaimed actress Halle Bailey has revealed how her private journey assisted her preparation for the lead role in the upcoming romantic comedy, You, Me & Tuscany.
Speaking with People at a screening in New York City, the star discussed her portrayal of Anna, a cook found squatting in an abandoned villa.
Bailey explained that her performance was deeply rooted in her own history, noting the importance of "using your real life experiences to influence the character and connecting with the character."
The Let It Shine actress admitted she found common ground with Anna, viewing them both as "young women trying to figure out life."
In the production, which features Bailey alongside Bridgerton actor Regé-Jean Page, the protagonist must navigate complex social and emotional hurdles.
"Sometimes you gotta fake it till you make it, but you get through it, and you get back up. And I love that about Anna, and I hope that people love that about her too when they go watch the film," she remarked.
Bailey also shared light-hearted insights into her co-star, Page, who portrays the homeowner’s cousin. Describing him as a "cool guy," she praised his disciplined fitness routine, noting his penchant for morning runs and regular workouts.
You, Me & Tuscany arrives in theatres on Friday. This project follows Bailey’s celebrated turn in the live-action reimagining of The Little Mermaid, which solidified her status as a versatile leading talent in contemporary Hollywood.
