Millie Bobby Brown’s Kerri Strug film 'Perfect' shut down over creative differences
The film was set to depict Strug’s iconic 1996 Olympic gold-medal performance
The planned Kerri Strug biopic Perfect has been scrapped following Millie Bobby Brown’s reported exit from the project due to creative differences with producers.
According to Deadline, the Netflix sports drama, which was set to star and be produced by Brown, 22, is no longer moving forward after the Stranger Things alum stepped away from the film.
Sources cited in the report say Brown left the project over disagreements regarding its creative direction. Representatives for Brown, Netflix, and Kerri Strug have not publicly commented on the development.
The film Perfect was set to center on Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug and her iconic performance at the 1996 Summer Olympics, where she competed despite a severe ankle injury to help secure gold for the U.S. women’s gymnastics team known as the “Magnificent Seven.”
Strug’s historic vault and her coach Béla Károlyi, carrying her off the mat afterward, remains one of the most memorable moments in Olympic history.
The project had gone through several key changes during development, including reported shifts in its directing team, with Gia Coppola initially attached before Cate Shortland later entered discussions to helm the film.
Screenwriters John P. Lopez and Ronnie Sandahl were also reportedly involved in early versions of the script.
Despite the cancellation of Perfect, Brown continues to maintain a strong relationship with Netflix, with multiple projects still in development.
Following the conclusion of Stranger Things in late 2025, she is set to return as both star and producer for Enola Holmes 3, which is scheduled for release this summer. She will also appear in the romantic comedy Just Picture It alongside Gabriel LaBelle, and is attached to the adaptation of her debut novel Nineteen Steps.
