Eugene Levy travels from Canada to support son Dan Levy at premiere
Dan Levy confirmed his father, Eugene Levy, is already quoting lines from the show
Dan Levy has shared his father Eugene Levy’s enthusiastic reaction to his latest television project, a Netflix dark comedy titled "Big Mistakes".
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the show’s New York City premiere on 6 April, the 42-year-old creator revealed that his 79-year-old father travelled from Canada to offer his support.
According to the "Schitt's Creek" star, both of his parents have already viewed the series and have begun quoting their favourite lines.
"They're already quoting lines from it, and they're very excited to watch it again. So, that's all I could ask for," he remarked during the red carpet event.
The series, which arrived on the streaming platform on Thursday, follows siblings Nicky and Morgan, portrayed by Dan Levy and Taylor Ortega, as they are blackmailed into the dangerous world of organised crime.
Mr Levy explained that the show’s friction-filled humour was heavily inspired by his own early relationship with his sister, Sarah Levy.
He noted that the production aimed to "authenticate the experience of that sibling dynamic" by placing relatable family bickering against a backdrop of intense criminal activity.
He expressed hope that anyone from a "yelling family" would find the show’s portrayal of sibling bonds deeply recognisable.
Reflecting on his career post-Schitt's Creek, Mr Levy stated that he sought a project that provided the same level of inspiration and affection for his colleagues.
He praised the cast and crew for their dedication, noting they worked at "110%". Moving forward, the director remains optimistic about the future of the series, indicating he would love to tell the story for many seasons to come.
