A fresh chapter of Little House on the Prairie has arrived.

On Monday (April 13), Netflix rolled out the initial teaser for the updated series based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's literary works, with Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald, Skywalker Hughes, and Alice Halsey cast as the Ingalls family.

"Once upon a time, Ma and Pa and Mary and Laura journeyed from the deep forests of Wisconsin to the prairie," a youthful Laura (Halsey) begins as the trailer kicks off. "A new chapter awaited them."

As the clan embarks on their new life seen in the teaser, Laura narrates, "Every dawn and every dusk was an exciting experience.

Despite being isolated and seemingly tiny under the expansive sky, happiness filled their hearts because they were a united family."

The official synopsis states that the series blends elements of a "hopeful family drama, a remarkable survival saga, and an evolving tale of the American frontier," described as a "revamped interpretation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical Little House stories."

The reboot "presents a vibrant view of the battles and achievements of those forging the frontier," the synopsis further explains.

Showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine shared with Netflix's Tudum that the initial season of the reboot — which secured an early renewal for a second season last month — draws "inspiration from Little House on the Prairie, which is actually the third book in this series."

"The characters reminisce about their past before arriving at the prairie — viewers might be introduced to a few figures from their history," she noted.

Sonnenshine shared that she “was captivated by these books at the age of 5," and they "sparked her desire to pursue a career in writing and filmmaking, and she is honored and excited to bring these tales to a brand new audience.”

“This series tells a love story centered around a family. It's a family you'll want to connect with, learn more about, and spend your days with,” she explained. “At its core, Little House on the Prairie is about a family supporting one another and sharing stories among themselves and about their lives.”

The series plans to be a "modern retelling of the original literary works," according to Trip Friendly, the son of Little House producer Ed Friendly, and part of the revival team.

"I have always envisioned revisiting the books, crafting a modern adaptation while incorporating the historical context of that time," he shared during the 50th-anniversary fan celebration in December.

"As an admirer of history, particularly the periods of the 1860s through the 1880s, I find that era incredibly intriguing."

Trip also applauded the young lead, Halsey, who takes on the role first made famous by Melissa Gilbert.

His daughter Rebecca remarked that Halsey is "extremely talented and mature," noting she has "completely embraced the role of Laura."

Gilbert, 61, felt "very eager to pass the torch" to the budding actress, as conveyed by Rebecca. "She has shown great support, and they have shared meaningful conversations."

Little House on the Prairie will debut on Netflix on July 9.
