WWE is expanding its entertainment portfolio with a new live-action microdrama, teaming up with ReelShort to bring several of its biggest stars to the vertical streaming platform.

The upcoming original series will feature Drew McIntyre, Joe Hendry and Jacob Fatu alongside ReelShort actors Marc Herrmann and Chase Mattson.

WWE has also confirmed that additional Superstars will appear in the project.

Ben Houser, WWE's head of original content and development, said the partnership is designed to introduce WWE talent to a new audience while offering fans a different style of storytelling.

"By bringing WWE Superstars into the ReelShort cinematic world, we are creating a new storytelling experience for the WWE Universe, while reaching a fresh audience with premium content on ReelShort's innovative platform," Houser said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

The production is scheduled to begin filming next month, with the series expected to premiere later this year.

The project marks another acting role for McIntyre, who has steadily expanded his career beyond the wrestling ring.

He made his film debut in 2024's The Killer's Game, starring as assassin Rory Mackenzie after being recommended for the role by Dave Bautista.

The former WWE champion has also been filming the upcoming Highlander reboot, where he plays the brother of Henry Cavill's Connor MacLeod, while simultaneously working on the fantasy film The Last Druid.

ReelShort executive Sammie Hao said the collaboration reflects the growing evolution of entertainment partnerships.

"Brand partnerships are evolving beyond product placement. We're creating entertainment ecosystems where brands, talent and storytelling come together to build cultural moments that audiences actively engage with and share," Hao said.

The WWE partnership is also part of ReelShort's effort to broaden its audience.

Although the platform has traditionally attracted a largely female viewership, it has increasingly targeted male audiences following projects such as 2025's American Sniper: The Last Round.

The move continues WWE's successful crossover into Hollywood, following stars such as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, John Cena and Dave Bautista, who have all built thriving acting careers.

Later this year, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns will appear in the live-action Street Fighter film as Guile and Akuma, respectively.

Rhodes also features in the upcoming The Naked Gun reboot, while Reigns recently lent his voice to Zootropolis 2.
