Sony unveils exclusive Spider-Man Brand New Day footage at CinemaCon
Tom Holland's character encounters Ned and MJ during exclusive footage reveal
Sony Pictures has provided an exclusive look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day during its CinemaCon presentation, revealing a poignant scene from the franchise's next chapter.
The footage depicts an incognito Peter Parker, portrayed by Tom Holland, four years after the memory-altering events of the previous film.
In the clip, Peter follows his former best friend, Ned, into a house party, only to be shown a "Spider-Man board" by a Ned who has no recollection of their shared history.
The emotional weight of Peter's isolation is further emphasised when Zendaya’s MJ appears, seen kissing a new love interest directly in front of a devastated Parker.
Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures, described the film as "as big as anything we’ve ever made," while Holland, appearing via a pre-recorded virtual link, called it "the most emotional Spider-Man, and in some ways, the most grown up."
The story finds Peter living as a full-time hero until mounting pressure triggers a dangerous change, and a powerful new enemy emerges.
The sequel features a star-studded ensemble, with Jon Bernthal reprising his role as Frank Castle, Michael Mando returning as Scorpion, and Mark Ruffalo appearing as Bruce Banner.
Newcomers Sadie Sink and Trammell Tillman join the cast, though their specific roles remain undisclosed. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, the film is slated for a theatrical release on 31 July.
This instalment marks a significant shift in Peter Parker’s journey as he navigates a world that has entirely forgotten his existence.
