Missing toddler found safe after Los Angeles Amber Alert
Police found Messiah Evans unharmed inside a vehicle in the Gardena area
Authorities in California have confirmed that three-year-old Messiah Evans was safely located on Tuesday, following an alleged abduction in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department issued an urgent Amber Alert at approximately 10:00pm on Monday, after the toddler disappeared.
The boy was last seen inside a 2006 Saturn Vue, which was allegedly taken by Joshua Pendleton, 38, the ex-boyfriend of the child's mother.
The mother informed investigators that she was inside her vehicle when Pendleton allegedly forced his way into the driver’s seat.
Police reports indicate that a physical altercation took place between the pair before the mother exited through the passenger door.
Pendleton then reportedly drove away with the young boy still inside the car. It remains unclear to investigators whether the suspect was initially aware that the toddler was in the vehicle during the incident.
The intensive search ended approximately twelve hours later when officers from the Gardena Police Department discovered the car at 10:15am in Gardena.
Messiah was found safe and entirely uninjured, leading the California Highway Patrol to cancel the emergency alert.
The child has since been reunited with his relieved family members. Pendleton is currently being questioned by detectives as the investigation into the motives behind the confrontation remains ongoing.
This successful recovery follows a string of similar child abduction cases across the United States, where Amber Alerts proved vital.
Recent figures suggest that rapid police intervention and public vigilance remain the most effective tools for ensuring the safe return of minors in high-risk domestic disputes.
