Blake Lively has spoken out against the "unintentional ravaging" of entertainers' health caused by toxic public scrutiny, citing Justin Bieber’s career as a primary example.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the Gossip Girl actress shared a video by creator Django Degree that analysed Bieber’s life from childhood stardom to the present day.
Lively described the breakdown as "thoughtful," noting that the public often only looks back with empathy when it is "too late."
Lively’s comments come during a period of significant personal and legal turbulence. She is currently embroiled in a high-profile legal battle with her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.
Earlier this month, a US District Judge dismissed ten of Lively’s thirteen claims against Baldoni, including allegations of sexual harassment, citing her status as an independent contractor rather than an employee.
However, her claims regarding retaliation and breach of contract are set to proceed to a trial scheduled for 18 May 2026.
The actress specifically praised Bieber’s recent "healing journey," which culminated in his headline performance at Coachella on 11 April.
After a four-year hiatus from major stages and the release of his dual albums Swag I and Swag II in 2025, Bieber’s return was seen by many as a powerful reclamation of his narrative.
Lively remarked that "seeing lilbieber meet that with healing was stunning," emphasising that the "humanity of these artists" should be prioritised over the desire for viral entertainment.
