Denise Richards is grieving the loss of her close friend Patrick Muldoon, whom she remembered in a touching social media post.

Muldoon passed away on Sunday (April 19), at the age of 57 due to a heart attack. In the wake of his passing, Richards is honoring the beloved actor.

“It’s incredibly hard to express what I’m feeling. My heart is broken and I am devastated by your loss. You were my best friend and like family to me,” Richards wrote on Instagram.

“We first met in acting class when I was 19 and had never acted before, and you were 21, a USC student already guest-starring on Who’s the Boss.”

She added, “And now, after 36 years, you’ve been part of my entire adult life. The bond we shared—friendship, love, support, respect, and loyalty—was unique. You brightened every room you entered. You were larger than life, and people were naturally drawn to you. You were a greatly gifted yet underrated actor, and incredibly humble. Everything about you was infectious—your laughter, kindness, humor, strength, loyalty, passion, and enthusiasm for life. We have been each other’s support system. Our shared memories are endless.”

Richards expressed that Muldoon always had her back, saying, “I’m not sure how I’m going to cope without you. You were my voice of reason and my source of strength, especially through the toughest times this past year. I need you even more now, as I deal with the pain of losing you.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star mentioned that they often talked about death and believed they’d “live forever or at least into our 90s.”

“My dear friend, I will be searching for signs,” she said. “I need to know you’re still here by my side. I love you deeply and miss you so much, sweet friend.”
