Yankees Pitcher Ryan Weathers becomes father as couple announces birth of baby boy

New York Yankees pitcher Ryan Weathers has officially become a father after welcoming his first child with wife, Thayer Weathers.

The couple announced the arrival of their son, Paul David Weathers, in a joint Instagram post shared on April 22, describing the moment as deeply emotional and faith-filled.

“Just in absolute awe of the Lord and how he provides… we love our little man Paul David Weathers,” the 26-year-old pitcher wrote, alongside a photo showing Thayer resting on his shoulder while holding their newborn.

In a separate post on X, Weathers revealed that their son arrived earlier than expected. “Little man decided to come early… Thank you Lord for a healthy baby and a healthy wife,” he wrote, also sharing a baseball stamped with the baby’s tiny footprint.

Thayer, a former collegiate volleyball player at the University of Florida, first announced her pregnancy in December 2025. 

At the time, she shared her joy on Instagram, reflecting on the experience as a meaningful chapter in their lives and expressing gratitude for motherhood during the holiday season.

The couple’s announcement quickly drew warm congratulations from fans and teammates as Weathers stepped away from team duties. The Yankees placed him on the paternity list following the birth.

Weathers, who joined the New York Yankees earlier this year, is the son of former MLB pitcher David Weathers, who had a long major league career spanning multiple teams, including a stint with the Yankees during their 1996 World Series-winning season.

Despite stepping away briefly, team officials expect Weathers to return to the mound soon, with his next scheduled start projected for April 25 against the Houston Astros.
