  • Justin Bieber and Anyma exceeded Indio's 1 a.m. curfew during the second weekend.
  • Goldenvoice was fined forty-four thousand dollars for the two specific time violations.
  • Festival organisers have a history of paying significant fines for artist overruns.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has been hit with a significant financial penalty following the conclusion of its second weekend.

Promoters Goldenvoice were issued a $44,000 fine after performances by Justin Bieber and electronic artist Anyma exceeded the strict 1am curfew set by the city of Indio.

According to official reports, the second weekend, which ran from 17 April to 19 April 2026, saw two separate breaches of the long-standing agreement between the festival and local authorities.

Anyma’s set on Friday night ran nine minutes past the cutoff, incurring a $24,000 penalty. The following evening, Saturday, headline act Justin Bieber exceeded the limit by just two minutes, resulting in an additional $20,000 fine.

Indio city officials confirmed the total costs, noting that the first weekend of the 2026 event had successfully stayed within the time limits.

Justin Bieber’s performance was a major highlight of the weekend, featuring guest appearances from stars such as Billie Eilish and SZA.

This is not the first instance of the festival facing such penalties. In 2023, Goldenvoice paid over $168,000 in fines after several artists, including Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean, went over their allotted times.

Additionally, the festival was fined $20,000 in 2025 following a late set by Travis Scott. Despite the fines, the 25th edition of the festival drew massive crowds to witness headliners Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G.

Looking forward, organisers are expected to review scheduling to avoid further penalties in future editions.
