Elon Musk delays Tesla Roadster launch date again
Elon Musk has postponed the anticipated launch date for the Tesla Roadster once more
Elon Musk has postponed the anticipated launch date for the Tesla Roadster once more and provided another vague timeframe for its release.
During Tesla's initial quarter earnings call on Wednesday, the CEO mentioned the company may reveal its next-gen Roadster "in about a month."
"Significant testing and validation are required before we can hold a demo and ensure it runs smoothly," Musk stated. "However, I think it will be among the most thrilling product unveilings ever."
Musk indicated that ultimately, the Roadster would be the sole human-driven car in Tesla's lineup, stating that while it might not greatly affect company profits, "it is very exciting."
The Tesla Roadster, an electric sports vehicle, has faced delays since reservations began in 2017.
Musk in October suggested the car might be showcased before year's end, only to later mention a tentative demo day for April 1, 2026. Mid-March, Musk said it would "likely" be in late April, but was delayed again.
Tesla exceeded earnings expectations on Wednesday, indicating a recovery in demand in North America.
The company announced a 16% increase in revenue compared to the previous year, surpassing analysts' predictions. Tesla also revealed plans to significantly boost capital expenditures.
Following the earnings release, the stock temporarily rose 4% in after-hours trading but eventually settled back to its closing level.
