Snap CEO Evan Spiegel remarks that AI's rapid progress is already transforming how Snap functions.

During a "Cheeky Pint" podcast chat, Spiegel revealed that AI now crafts over two-thirds of Snap's recent code. He highlighted the swift advancements of tools like Anthropic's Claude.

"Claude is fundamentally altering software creation at Snap across all sectors," Spiegel stated. "The pace at which these models are advancing is phenomenal."

Spiegel noted this evolution is impacting business resource allocation. As software development becomes more straightforward, he foresees organisations like his investing less in engineering and more in delivering products to customers.

"I predict a shift of resources away from areas like software engineering towards distribution to accelerate growth," he commented.

Spiegel's insights reflect shifts observed across many leading US firms. Reports from Business Insider mention that companies such as Amazon and JPMorgan are depending on AI for automating programming tasks.

Meanwhile, firms — including Anthropic — are putting more emphasis on communication, sales, and AI system development.

This shift is resulting in fewer obstacles in code production and increased competition for visibility.

"It's becoming increasingly challenging for brands to gain prominence and momentum," he explained. "That value is growing right now."
