Amid the massive box office success of the fictional sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2, reports have emerged detailing a surprising salary agreement between stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt that prioritised equality over individual pay cheques.

According to a recent report by the Hindustan Times, the highly anticipated sequel was a sensation upon its May 2026 release, grossing an incredible $234 million worldwide in its opening weekend alone.

What makes the behind-the-scenes arrangement noteworthy is that Meryl Streep, being one of Hollywood's most esteemed actresses, could have potentially demanded a much higher salary than her co-stars.

Sources suggest the 76-year-old icon might have been able to request nearly $15 million for her reprisal of the iconic role of Miranda Priestly. However, the report indicates the actors chose to champion equality in their compensation instead.

Streep herself hinted at a significant payday for the cast, previously stating, "This one, honey, they spent the money."

Certain sources told the outlet that Streep typically earns approximately $20 million for each film. However, she does not exclusively chase high-paying roles.

For instance, Streep received $5 million for her performance in the 2020 film Let Them All Talk. She earned only $1 million for her Oscar-winning portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in the 2011 biopic The Iron Lady, a sum she generously donated to support the National Women's History Museum.

For the original The Devil Wears Prada in 2006, Streep was compensated $5 million after famously negotiating her initial offer.

Meanwhile, 43-year-old Anne Hathaway has also solidified her status as one of Hollywood's highest-earning actresses, with an estimated net worth of $80 million as of 2026.

Her films have collectively grossed over $6.8 billion worldwide, and her per-project fee is estimated to be between $10 million and $15 million for major studio films.

Emily Blunt, 43, is reportedly tied with Hathaway, also boasting an estimated net worth of $80 million. Her financial star has been on a steady rise, commanding between $12 million and $13 million for her role in A Quiet Place Part II.

With the figures mentioned above, it seems that despite the equal pay agreement for the sequel, Meryl Streep remains the richest among the three The Devil Wears Prada stars with an estimated fortune of approximately $100 million.
