Heather Rae El Moussa admits she felt 'intimidated' meeting Christina Haack for the first time
Their relationship has since evolved into a supportive co-parenting dynamic on and off screen
Heather Rae El Moussa and Christina Haack are looking back on their first meeting — and both agree it happened under unexpectedly awkward circumstances.
The HGTV stars recently opened up about their early impressions of one another during a candid “Get Ready” video shared on Heather’s YouTube channel, where they recalled how Tarek El Moussa introduced them without warning either side in advance.
Heather, who married Tarek in 2021, said she was nervous the first time she met Christina, especially because there was little preparation before the introduction.
“There was no introduction,” Heather recalled. “It was kind of like, ‘Here we go.’”
Christina, meanwhile, explained that she was heavily pregnant with her son Hudson at the time and completely caught off guard when Tarek unexpectedly arrived at her house with Heather.
“I probably would have at least put on this amount of makeup on to look presentable when I’m meeting you for the first time,” Christina joked, adding that Tarek “totally” planned the surprise intentionally.
Heather also admitted she felt intimidated during the encounter and remembered carefully questioning whether stopping by was actually a good idea.
“I was nervous to meet you,” she said. “And he was like, ‘No, it’s fine,’ but it’s fine to you — I’ve never done this before.”
The two women laughed while revisiting the awkward first meeting, which has since evolved into a more comfortable co-parenting and professional relationship.
The trio currently appear together on HGTV’s The Flip Off, where their blended family dynamic has become a major talking point among viewers.
Christina also shared the surprising way she first discovered Tarek was dating Heather, revealing that a friend sent her paparazzi photos of the couple kissing.
“When I saw it, I thought someone Photoshopped me into kissing Tarek,” she joked, admitting the moment initially shocked her before she realized it was Heather in the photos.
Tarek and Heather share son Tristan together, while Christina shares daughter Taylor and son Brayden with Tarek, as well as son Hudson with ex-husband Ant Anstead.
Despite the unconventional beginning, the women’s candid conversation highlighted how their relationship has evolved over time from uncertainty to a more supportive family dynamic both on and off screen.
