Jason Kelce tries to master new sports after NFL retirement in YouTube project
The former NFL star will take on NASCAR, basketball and baseball in his new series
Former NFL star Jason Kelce is stepping far outside the football field in a new YouTube series that sees him take on some of the world’s toughest sports challenges.
The 38-year-old Super Bowl champion will return to a rookie mindset in Kelce Versus, a sports entertainment series that premieres June 4 on YouTube, where he attempts to learn new disciplines from scratch and test how far his competitive edge can carry him beyond the NFL.
In an exclusive first look at the series, Kelce is shown behind the wheel of a stock car as he dives into the high-speed world of NASCAR.
The debut episode follows him spending time with Hendrick Motorsports and driver Corey Day during the 2026 Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega Superspeedway, where he also experiences life inside a professional pit crew.
Future episodes expand the challenge even further, with Kelce trying his hand at basketball in an attempt to land a perfect dunk, and stepping into baseball training to face pitches reaching near 100 mph.
Kelce said the idea behind the series comes from missing the competitive grind that defined his NFL career.
“I spent 13 seasons in the NFL trying to be the best football player I could be — and I miss it,” he said in a statement. “I miss playing, but I also miss competing, I miss improving, I miss trying to be the best in the world at something.”
He added that Kelce Versus gives him a chance to chase that feeling again while learning from elite athletes across different sports.
“I will undoubtedly lose many battles in this venture, but losing is not something to be feared, it’s how we learn best,” Kelce said.
Since retiring from professional football in 2024, Kelce has remained active in sports media. He currently appears on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown and previously hosted They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce.
He also co-hosts the popular New Heights podcast with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
The podcast continues to grow, with the brothers set to host a live New Heights event on June 15 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles as part of World Cup-related programming.
Kelce Versus is produced by Kelce’s Wooderboy Productions and Wondery.
