Gwyneth Paltrow has expressed pride in her daughter Apple Martin after the 22-year-old secured her first movie role shortly after graduating from college.

Speaking on the TODAY show, the Oscar-winning actress said she was thrilled to see her daughter begin her Hollywood journey following her graduation from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee at the end of April.

“I am really proud of her, it’s really thrilling,” Paltrow said, adding that Apple’s upcoming project includes an ensemble cast featuring Jude Law, Owen Wilson, Kieran Culkin, and Penélope Cruz.

Apple’s casting marks her first major step into the film industry, appearing in a new project directed by Nancy Meyers, who is preparing her upcoming film currently titled Paris Paramount. The film is said to center around a group of filmmakers and explores the creative process behind movie-making.

Paltrow also shared that her son Moses, 20, is pursuing music, following in the footsteps of his father, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. She revealed that he is part of a band called People I’ve Met and has signed with Interscope Records.

“He’s signed to Interscope Records. He’s in an amazing band — they’re called People I’ve Met — and he’s such a nice boy,” she said.

Reflecting on advice for her children as they build careers in the entertainment industry, Paltrow acknowledged both the challenges and rewards of the path ahead.

“It’s hard. It’s a difficult road, but it’s worth pursuing if that’s their absolute truth,” she said, adding that she would also advise them not to read public commentary about themselves.

Director Nancy Meyers recently shared updates on the production of Paris Paramount, noting that filming is close to beginning and revealing that the project will be shot on a historic Warner Bros stage that has hosted classics including Casablanca and Ocean’s Eleven.

Meyers also celebrated reuniting with actor Kieran Culkin, recalling working with him as a child on Father of the Bride in 1991, marking a full-circle moment in her decades-long filmmaking career.
