Mel C reveals which Spice Girl had the 'best success rate' with men
The singer also reflected on how fame made dating more difficult
Mel C has shared a candid behind-the-scenes insight into the dating dynamics within the Spice Girls during the height of their global fame.
The 52-year-old singer, who recently released her ninth studio album Sweat, appeared on Cosmopolitan’s Blind Date series, where she reflected on which member of the iconic girl group was most popular in dating circles.
When asked which Spice Girl had the “best success rate” with men, Mel C paused before naming her bandmate Mel B.
“I would say the best success rate… she was very popular,” she said, describing Mel B’s confidence and social ease during the group’s peak years.
Mel C also credited Mel B as the one who offered the most grounded relationship advice within the group, calling her “a cool girl” who “doesn’t get too wrapped up in things.”
“She gives the best dating advice,” she added. “Probably Mel B because she’s a cool girl.”
The singer also reflected on her own experiences navigating relationships in the public eye, admitting that fame made dating more complicated.
“I think more difficult,” she said. “You feel so self-conscious when you go out publicly and then you can’t meet strangers in private.”
Mel C, who went public with her relationship with Chris Dingwall in 2024, continues to balance her music career with DJ work and live performances.
Her latest album Sweat, released on May 1, draws heavily from dance-pop and house influences inspired by her early exposure to rave culture.
In a separate interview, she explained how DJing shaped her creative direction, saying it helped her reconnect with the sounds she loved before joining the Spice Girls.
Looking ahead, Mel C also addressed speculation about a possible Spice Girls reunion, noting that while the group remains in contact, no official plans are currently in motion.
“We are communicating all the time. We want to do something… I still feel very optimistic,” she said, adding that fans “will see the Spice Girls together at some point in the future.”
