Kylie Minogue says she’s ‘getting pickier’ in love and remains single
The singer described narcissistic behaviour as a major red flag in dating
Kylie Minogue has opened up about her love life, revealing she is currently single and more selective than ever when it comes to relationships.
Speaking in a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, the 58-year-old pop star said she is no longer interested in settling and would rather remain on her own than be with the wrong partner.
“No, I don’t have a boyfriend,” Minogue said, confirming her current relationship status.
The Spinning Around hitmaker explained that a previous breakup helped reshape her perspective on love and independence.
“I was in a relationship and when that ended I realised I was OK on my own,” she said, adding that the experience made her more self-aware and confident in her choices.
Minogue admitted she has become increasingly selective in dating. “I’m definitely getting pickier,” she said, noting that her priorities have shifted with time and experience.
She also shared one of her strongest dealbreakers when it comes to relationships, describing narcissistic behavior as a “red hot ‘no’.”
“I’ve dated one, and I’m very grateful I now have that knowledge,” she added.
The singer also reflected on her past relationship with late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, calling him the “love of my life.”
“Yes, probably [was the love of my life],” she said. “It had a profound effect on me.”
Minogue and Hutchence dated between 1989 and 1991, when she was in her early twenties.
While the relationship was relatively short-lived, she described it as deeply meaningful and formative.
Throughout her career, Minogue has often spoken candidly about love, heartbreak, and personal growth, and her latest remarks continue that reflection as she embraces a more independent chapter of her life.
