Thais Ramone slapped Patrick Mendes during a goodbye visit
Thais Ramone was arrested on 22 May after Patrick Mendes called police and alleged she slapped him
- Mendes alleged Ramone slapped him during a farewell visit involving their daughter Aleesi
- The arrest came two days after Mendes had served Ramone with divorce papers
- An officer noted Mendes had video footage and visible marks consistent with his account
Fresh details have emerged about the incident that led to the arrest of 90 Day Fiancé star Thais Ramone on a domestic battery charge last month, including the moment that allegedly set it all in motion.
Arrest followed a family visit gone wrong
Ramone was arrested on 22 May in Nevada on a misdemeanour domestic battery charge — the same day news broke that she and her now-estranged husband, Patrick Mendes, were seeking a divorce. The charge was subsequently dropped two days later.
According to a police report obtained by TMZ on Monday, the arrest came after Mendes contacted police and alleged that Ramone "slapped him on the left side of his face with an open right hand" at her home.
Mendes told officers the argument erupted two days after he had served her with divorce papers, on a visit to her home during which he had brought their three-year-old daughter, Aleesi, to say goodbye to Ramone ahead of her departure to Brazil, her home country.
Video footage and visible marks cited
A responding officer noted that Mendes, 36, had also filmed the alleged slap on video, and that marks on his face were consistent with the account he had given to police.
Ramone, for her part, told officers she had acted in self-defence and described Mendes as "controlling."
Ramone marks 30th birthday amid the controversy
Ramone appeared unfazed on Monday as she celebrated her 30th birthday, posting a series of photographs on Instagram. One image showed her lying on a bed in a skintight black minidress beside a cake bearing the words "Spicy 30."
"Spicy 30 Cheers to another year! Through every lesson, every blessing, and every new beginning happy birthday to me," she wrote in the caption.
Representative breaks silence
Ramone's representative had previously spoken to Page Six about the arrest, saying the reality star was focused on moving forward privately and protecting her family through "an emotionally difficult time."
"While a misdemeanor allegation was made following a personal family dispute, the matter was reviewed by the District Attorney and the charge was ultimately dropped," the rep said. "We believe that outcome speaks for itself."
"As with many deeply personal situations involving family and relationships, there are always complexities that the public may not fully see or understand," the representative added.
How the couple met — and what comes next
Mendes and Ramone first appeared on Season 9 of 90 Day Fiancé in 2022, which followed Ramone as she relocated from Brazil to the United States to be with Mendes. The pair married on 22 February 2022.
The estranged couple are also set to feature in the forthcoming season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Last Resort, which premiered on 1 June and will document their experience in couples' therapy.
