Kelsea Ballerini finds freedom and growth in New York City stay

Kelsea Ballerini is embracing a new chapter of independence in New York City, saying her time in the city feels like stepping into a real-life romantic comedy as she navigates life after her split from actor Chase Stokes.

The 32-year-old country star has temporarily relocated from Nashville to the Big Apple, where she says she is finally experiencing the version of New York she has long dreamed about. 

The move comes after a busy period of releasing new music, prompting her to take a step back and focus on personal growth and change.

Speaking about the transition, Ballerini said she felt it was the right moment to pause and reset before entering her next professional chapter. 

Rather than immediately jumping into new projects, she chose to prioritize herself and explore life outside her usual routine.

Describing her experience, the “Cowboys Cry Too” singer said her time in New York feels like a “Carrie Bradshaw moment,” referencing the iconic character from Sex and the City. 

She said she now enjoys simple routines like sitting on the stoop outside her home, soaking in the city’s energy.

Ballerini said the change of environment has helped her reconnect with her independence and opened her mind to new possibilities, including forming new friendships and embracing unfamiliar experiences.

The singer also reflected on how different life in New York feels compared to Tennessee, where she has spent most of her life surrounded by family and close friends. 

She acknowledged that stepping away on her own has been both exciting and intimidating.

While she has no plans to permanently relocate, Ballerini said her time in the city has already provided valuable lessons about personal growth and self-discovery.

Before leaving, she added with a smile that she has set herself one unofficial goal: finding the perfect dirty martini in New York City.
