Perrie Edwards recalls bandmates’ joke about dating Prince Harry
The singer says her Little Mix bandmates once joked about setting her up with Prince Harry
Perrie Edwards has revealed that her Little Mix bandmates once jokingly tried to set her up with Prince Harry after the group met the royal at an official event while she was single.
The 32-year-old singer made the lighthearted admission during an appearance on the Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill, where she discussed her new single Passenger Princess and reflected on past encounters with the Duke of Sussex.
Edwards said she met Prince Harry during a performance at the Royal Variety event alongside her bandmates Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
At the time, she said the group quickly began teasing the idea of a potential match.
“I was single at the time and the girls were like, ‘Oh, you and Prince Harry,’ and I was like, ‘Give it a rest!’” she recalled.
The singer added that her bandmates often joked about matchmaking within the group whenever one of them was single, even when it involved high-profile figures.
“Yeah, if any of us were single we’d just pie them off to anyone really,” she said. “Not saying that Prince Harry is anyone, we love Prince Harry! But you know what I mean.”
The conversation also touched on Prince Harry’s public image at the time, with Edwards joking about his reputation before stepping back from royal duties.
“He was a bit of a bad boy, wasn’t he?” she said, with host Jimmy Hill responding in agreement. Edwards added that his partying lifestyle was more noticeable back then compared to his current role.
Her comments follow previous remarks from bandmate Jade Thirlwall, who also recalled being teased by the group about a possible spark with the prince during the same period.
Thirlwall previously said on the Sidetracked podcast that she was encouraged by her bandmates to consider a connection with Harry, though she admitted she felt nervous and overwhelmed by the situation.
“There wasn’t one,” she said of any romantic spark. “I can’t flirt anyway, so there was definitely nothing like that.”
Despite the jokes, Edwards made clear that no genuine romance ever developed, adding that the interaction was brief and lighthearted.
“I can’t flirt anyways, so there was definitely nothing like that,” she said. “Maybe I did a slight over-linger on the handshake… there wasn’t one. I wish him well.”
