Tiger Woods faces medical records subpoena in DUI crash case
Florida prosecutors seek access to Tiger Woods’ medical records as part of their DUI case
Prosecutors in Florida are seeking to subpoena Tiger Woods’ medical records as part of an ongoing DUI case stemming from a rollover crash that led to the golf star’s arrest earlier this year.
People reported that according to court documents filed on June 13, the Martin County State Attorney’s Office plans to request records from Cleveland Clinic Martin South Hospital in Stuart, Florida, where Woods was treated following the incident on March 27.
The requested records include any statements Woods may have made regarding alcohol or drug use, along with the results of drug screening tests and information about the medical professional who conducted the testing.
Defence Given Opportunity to Challenge Request
Court filings indicate prosecutors intend to formally issue the subpoena on June 30 and have provided Woods’ legal team with a 10-day notice period to raise any objections.
As of June 15, no objections had been filed in court records. Woods’ attorney has not publicly commented on the request.
The planned subpoena was first reported by TMZ.
DUI Charges Stem From March Rollover Crash
Woods, 50, was arrested on March 27 after authorities said he crashed his SUV while attempting to pass a pressure-cleaning truck near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida.
The vehicle allegedly overturned during the incident, though Woods was not seriously injured.
Law enforcement officers reported that the golfer appeared lethargic at the scene and showed signs of impairment. According to police, a breathalyser test registered no alcohol in his system.
Authorities also alleged that Woods declined to undergo a urinalysis test designed to detect the presence of drugs.
Investigators reportedly discovered two opioid pills in his pocket during a search conducted after the crash.
Woods Has Pleaded Not Guilty
Woods has entered a not guilty plea to charges of driving under the influence and property damage.
Following the crash, the 15-time major champion announced he would temporarily step away from public life to seek treatment.
He later travelled to Zurich, Switzerland, for rehabilitation after receiving permission to leave the United States during the legal proceedings.
Previous Driving Incidents Revisited
The latest case is not the first time Woods has faced scrutiny over a vehicle-related incident.
In 2021, he survived a serious rollover crash in California that left him with severe leg injuries and raised concerns about his future in professional golf.
Four years earlier, in 2017, Woods was arrested after being found asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle on Jupiter Island. He later pleaded guilty to reckless driving in that case.
In 2009, he also received a careless driving citation following a crash involving a tree near his Florida home.
Investigation Continues Ahead of Next Legal Steps
The prosecution’s effort to obtain Woods’ medical records marks the latest development in a case that continues to draw significant public attention.
If approved, the subpoena could provide investigators with additional evidence related to Woods’ condition following the March crash as legal proceedings move forward.
