Taylor Swift has revealed that her new song for Toy Story 5 came together in a whirlwind day after she was inspired by the beloved animated franchise.

The global music superstar wrote and produced “I Knew It, I Knew You” for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, with the song inspired by Jessie, the character voiced by Joan Cusack.

Taylor shared a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process on social media, showing herself working in the recording studio while explaining how quickly the track was created.

“Been kind of a hectic day,” she said in the video.

The singer explained that she watched Toy Story 5 earlier that day and immediately felt inspired to write music.

“At 11 a.m., went to go see Toy Story 5. Got so inspired, got the songwriter zoomies, went home, wrote the end-credit song for Toy Story 5,” Taylor said.

She added that the song had already been produced and that she was recording vocals just hours later before executives from The Walt Disney Company and Pixar were set to hear it.

“I think this is one of the most fun days of my life,” she said.

The singer later revealed more about the song’s creation in a preview for her appearance on Good Morning America, explaining that she immediately reached out to Jack Antonoff after being inspired.

“I called Jack Antonoff, who is one of my best friends, and so I know that he is not only as big a Randy Newman fan as I am but also a Toy Story kid,” Taylor shared.

She explained that their shared love for the franchise made the collaboration feel natural.

“We talk about Toy Story all the time and how it really shaped our childhood,” she said.

Taylor described the excitement behind the project as overwhelming, adding that she immediately knew they needed to create something for the film.

“It was such a frenetic form of excitement that I just blathered out like, ‘We have to write this song,’” she recalled.

At the world premiere of Toy Story 5 in Los Angeles earlier this month, Taylor performed “I Knew It, I Knew You” on piano.

She also joined longtime Toy Story composer Randy Newman for a performance of his classic 1995 song “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”

Toy Story 5, featuring the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, is set to arrive in cinemas on Friday.
