Jake Shane reveals why celebrity interviews still leave him ‘rattled’
The podcaster admits he still gets starstruck while sitting across from some of his biggest guests
Jake Shane has revealed the pressure that comes with interviewing some of the biggest names in entertainment.
The 26-year-old creator, known for his Therapuss podcast, said that even after building a high-profile guest list, he still gets nervous before conversations with major celebrities.
In a recent interview with Role Model for Interview magazine, Shane reflected on his experience meeting famous guests and admitted that he has not completely gotten used to the attention that comes with his growing platform.
“I’ll settle eventually. I was pretty nervous for Lorde,” Shane said.
The podcaster recalled meeting the singer before her appearance on Therapuss, sharing that they first crossed paths at a restaurant during Role Model’s birthday celebrations.
“Love her,” he said.
Shane admitted his excitement reached another level when he learned Lorde would be joining his podcast.
“This is a 911. Lorde is coming in on Saturday. I’m sick about it and cancel your plans,” he joked.
Lorde later appeared on Therapuss on June 4, 2025, where Shane openly shared his admiration for the singer.
“I love you,” he told her. “I really do.”
Beyond his podcast success, Shane has previously spoken about how pop culture played an important role in his personal life.
In a Highsnobiety essay, he discussed how female pop stars helped him cope after his OCD diagnosis by providing comfort and becoming a source of connection during difficult moments.
Since launching Therapuss in January 2024 and later joining Netflix’s podcast lineup in February 2026, Shane has continued to grow as an interviewer while maintaining the enthusiasm that makes his celebrity conversations stand out.
