Family seeks answers after man found dead in California park

Rialto Police Department officers discovered 63-year-old Southern California resident Jose De Jesus Arriaga Loza dead under suspicious circumstances at Rialto City Park early on Sunday, July 19.

KTLA reported that authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a deceased individual at approximately 5:21 a.m. Officers located Loza’s body in the north-central area of the park. Law enforcement personnel later recovered his clothing, wallet, cash, and California driver’s licence from a nearby trash can. Investigators observed facial injuries on the victim consistent with either a fall or a physical altercation. Police stated that robbery does not appear to be a motivating factor, though the precise circumstances surrounding the death remain under active investigation.

The victim's son, Juan Jose Arriaga Trejo, stated that his father worked as a cook and noted that he was unaware of anyone who would want to cause him harm. Trejo shared that colleagues and friends remembered his father as an admired figure across the community. Following the incident, the victim's family launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses, describing Loza as a deeply kind, caring, and generous individual who consistently put others before himself.

The family expressed hope that local surveillance footage from nearby cameras will assist law enforcement personnel in determining the events leading up to the death. Trejo urged community members with relevant details to step forward to help provide closure for the grieving family. The Rialto Police Department is actively asking anyone possessing information related to the ongoing case to contact authorities immediately.
