Jamie Campbell Bower has revealed the wildest fan theory he encountered after Stranger Things came to an end, admitting he was stunned by claims that a secret final episode was still waiting to be released.

The 37-year-old actor, who portrayed Vecna, Henry Creel and Mr. Whatsit in the hit Netflix series, recalled the viral "Conformity Gate" theory during an interview with Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic-Con.

According to the fan theory, the show's ending was merely an illusion created by Vecna, with a hidden ninth episode set to reveal the real conclusion.

Asked about the most outrageous theory he had heard, Bower laughed, saying, "That there was gonna be another episode."

"Everyone was like, 'Conformity Gate, there's gonna be a ninth episode.' I was like, 'If there is, I'm not in it! I shot what I shot, I'm done,'" he joked.

Bower said it was "pretty crazy" watching the theory gain momentum through what he described as confirmation bias, with fans interpreting cast interviews as evidence that another episode was secretly on the way.

He added that even six months after the series finale, fans continue asking whether a hidden episode exists.

"It's been six months! If there is, they're kinda behind," he quipped.

His co-star Caleb McLaughlin, who played Lucas Sinclair, previously dismissed the Conformity Gate theory as "dumb," saying fans simply wanted more of the beloved series.

However, McLaughlin later acknowledged why the theory resonated with viewers, explaining that Stranger Things had always left audiences with hope, making it difficult for some fans to accept that the story had truly reached its end.
