Daveigh Chase's father files to oversee her $400K estate

Daveigh Chase's father filed a new court petition seeking oversight of the late actress' estate, weeks after her mother asked to be appointed its administrator.

According to court documents obtained by Page Six, John Schwallier requested that the court appoint licensed professional fiduciary and paralegal Megan Boling to administer his daughter's estate on his behalf.

Father files competing estate request

Schwallier said he did not wish to serve as the estate's administrator himself but asked the court to appoint Boling instead.

"Subject to the appointment of Megan Boling as Administrator and her continued willingness to serve, I decline to serve," the filing states.

The court documents also state that Chase died without leaving a will and was reportedly unhoused in Los Angeles at the time of her death.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for Aug. 26 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Mother's petition came first

Earlier this month, Chase's mother, Cathy Chase, filed her own petition asking to be named administrator of the estate.

According to her filing, the former child actress left behind about $400,000 in personal property. Cathy also told the court that Schwallier resides in the Philippines at an unknown address but owns property in Las Vegas.

Former manager claims actress had unclaimed residuals

Daveigh's former manager, John Ryan, recently told The New York Post that the actress had "millions" of dollars in unclaimed residual checks before her death.

Ryan said he and Chase's stepsister, Gaia Brown, hired a private investigator in 2025 in an effort to locate her and help her, but she later disappeared again after they briefly spoke by phone.

Chase, who died last month at age 35, was best known for voicing Lilo in Disney's Lilo & Stitch and starring in The Ring.
