Joseph and Kendra Duggar face legal battles amid child molestation charges

Joseph Duggar’s recent phone and visitor records reveal limited contact since his arrest on child molestation charges earlier this month.

The 31-year-old former 19 Kids and Counting star has been held at the Washington County Detention Facility in Arkansas since his March 18 arrest.

According toPeople, Joseph has made several calls to his wife, Kendra Duggar, and one call to a management consultant on March 19, which went unanswered.

While in custody, he has been in solitary confinement and has only met with his attorney.

Joseph and Kendra, 27, share four children. Joseph was arrested after allegedly admitting to molesting a 9-year-old girl in 2020 during a phone call with the child’s father and Tontitown police detectives.

The incident reportedly occurred while the girl was on vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida. She is now 14 and participated in a forensic interview regarding the past abuse.

The former reality star faces two counts of child sex abuse in connection with the incident. Kendra Duggar, who was arrested two days later, was released on bail the same day.

A family spokesperson clarified that her charges—four counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and false imprisonment in the second degree—are unrelated to her husband’s alleged crime.

During a recent collect phone call obtained by PEOPLE, Joseph told Kendra, “I’ve been spending a lot of time reading… they got me a Bible in here.

I’m in solitary. I’m spending 23 hours of the day in an 8-by-10 area. Pretty small area, but I’ve been able to read a lot actually, and resting some, but I’m not sleeping great through the night.”

Kendra is next scheduled to appear in court on April 29. Joseph remains in custody, awaiting extradition to Florida.

If convicted on all charges, both could face up to eight years in prison and substantial fines.

Neither Joseph nor Kendra Duggar have publicly commented on the allegations, and family lawyers have not responded to requests for comment.

Various Duggar family members have weighed in on the situation in recent days.
