Tyra Banks’ role in ‘America’s Next Top Model’ reboot reportedly in question

No official confirmation yet on casting or production plans for the reboot

Tyra Banks may not return for a potential reboot of America’s Next Top Model, according to new reports.

The long-running reality competition, which first premiered in 2003, is said to be in early discussions for a revival, but insiders claim producers are considering a fresh direction that could exclude the show’s original host and creator.

Sources cited by media outlets suggest that while executives recognize Banks’ role in building the franchise, there is internal interest in introducing “a softer, more modern face” to lead a reimagined version of the series.

The reported shift comes after renewed scrutiny over past clips from the show, which have resurfaced in recent years and drawn criticism for harsh judging and controversial challenges.

“The brand still has huge value,” a source noted, adding that the next iteration is expected to feel “more empowering and less intimidating.”

Banks was central to the show’s success, serving as host, executive producer and creator throughout most of its run.

The series, developed alongside Kenya Barris and Ken Mok, became a pop culture staple across its 24-season run before ending in 2018.

Since the show’s conclusion, Banks has remained active in television, including hosting Dancing with the Stars for multiple seasons.

She has also relocated to Sydney with her partner and continues to focus on her personal and professional ventures.

While no official confirmation has been made regarding casting or production plans, the possibility of a reboot without Banks would mark a significant shift for the franchise she helped define.
