Aimee Lou Wood rethinks astrology after ‘The White Lotus’ role
During filming of 'The Idiots', she and co-star Johnny Flynn let tarot cards guide their performances
Aimee Lou Wood reflects on how astrology influences her life after her time on The White Lotus.
The 32-year-old actress, known for her candid personality, revealed in a recent interview with The Standard that portraying Chelsea—a character who firmly believes in fate—prompted her to reconsider her own reliance on astrology.
“I allow astrology to guide a lot of my life,” Wood admitted. “But playing Chelsea made me go, ‘Okay, let's just make sure that we don't get too obsessed with it.’”
She added with a laugh, noting that Chelsea’s unwavering belief in destiny ultimately leads to her tragic demise: “So, I'm like, ‘let's not get too into astrology.’”
Rather than abandoning astrology entirely, Wood now treats it as a creative tool rather than a rulebook for living.
She often uses divinatory practices like tarot cards to help develop her characters. During the filming of her upcoming project The Idiots, she and co-star Johnny Flynn incorporated tarot readings to guide their performances.
“We let the tarots that fell guide us throughout the job and our characters,” she explained.
Looking ahead, Wood will star as Jane in a new adaptation of Jane Eyre, a role she describes as closer to her natural self.
Yet she emphasized the importance of taking risks in her craft: “The moment you play it safe, you’re done,” she said, underscoring her commitment to pushing creative boundaries.
