Cameron Diaz shares cleanliness rule that guests must follow in her NYC home

Cameron Diaz has set clear boundaries when it comes to visitors and she’s not budging on her biggest household rule.

The actress, 53, recently shared her “biggest ick” during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, revealing that anyone entering her New York City home must follow one simple but strict guideline: no outside shoes.

“Shoes from the street in New York City,” Diaz said, emphasizing her distaste for bringing outside germs indoors.

The comment sparked laughter from host Drew Barrymore and Diaz’s Outcome costars, including Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer and Jonah Hill.

Barrymore jokingly added that guests might as well wear a “body condom” to meet Diaz’s cleanliness standards.

Laughing along, Diaz doubled down on her rule. “You have to change your clothes to come into my house in New York,” she said, noting that her home remains germ-free as a result.

“It’s true her house has no germs in it,” Barrymore chimed in, as Diaz added with a smile, “Yeah, I roll around on my floors. It’s okay.”

The lighthearted moment comes as Diaz promotes her new Apple TV+ comedy Outcome, which she describes as a “cautionary” look at the realities of fame.

Reflecting on her decades-long career, Diaz said her perspective has evolved over time.

“It’s a journey,” she explained, comparing her experience in Hollywood to settling into a well-worn saddle, finding rhythm and comfort after years of navigating the industry.

She also noted that while fame may seem appealing, it comes with its own set of challenges. “Everybody thinks they want to be famous, but there is a cost to it,” she said.

Diaz, who returned to acting in 2025 after a nearly decade-long hiatus, has been balancing her career with family life. She shares two children with husband Benji Madden and previously said her comeback came at the “right time” for her family.
