Britney Spears voluntarily enters rehabilitation facility for recovery
Britney Spears has reportedly checked herself into a facility of her own accord
Pop icon Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into a rehabilitation facility to address substance abuse and prioritise her mental health.
Her representative confirmed the move on Sunday, following the singer's arrest for driving under the influence on 4 March.
Sources close to the 44-year-old star emphasise that the decision was entirely her own. "This isn’t about one substance in particular; it has a dual purpose.
This is about Britney putting her mental health first and taking some time for herself to focus on the things that are important to her," a source told Page Six.
The decision comes after a turbulent period for the singer, who was taken into custody in Ventura County last month after authorities observed her driving erratically.
Reports at the time suggested she was "crying and very tearful" during the booking process, feeling deeply ashamed of the incident. Now, her family is reportedly fully supportive of her recovery.
Having recently spent time with her sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, the singer is said to be dedicated to getting herself back on "solid ground."
Notably, she has not set a 30 or 60-day limit on her stay, choosing instead to remain in treatment for as long as necessary.
Hours before the news broke, the singer shared a characteristically defiant video of herself dancing on Instagram, appearing in high spirits.
This latest step toward wellness follows years of public scrutiny regarding her personal life and previous legal conservatorship.
Moving forward, the star remains focused on her private recovery and future creative projects.
