Tulisa Contostavlos details facial paralysis amid series of personal health challenges

Tulisa Contostavlos has revealed she is experiencing “minor paralysis” after suffering a recent Bell’s palsy attack, which she says was triggered during an emotionally and physically challenging period in her life.

The 37-year-old singer shared an update on social media, explaining that she was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy in 2020 and recently experienced a recurrence following significant stress and health complications.

Bell’s palsy is a condition that causes sudden, temporary weakness or paralysis on one side of the face due to inflammation or damage to the facial nerve.

In a candid post on April 17, Contostavlos revealed she recently underwent surgery to remove three cysts, which she said contributed to facial swelling and complications linked to the condition. She shared photos from the hospital, including images of her recovery and visible swelling on one side of her face.

The singer also opened up about several personal and health-related challenges she has been facing simultaneously, including nicotine withdrawal, hormonal treatment setbacks, and emotional stress.

Among the most difficult moments, Contostavlos said she learned that her close friend is battling an aggressive form of cancer, a development she described as deeply distressing.

The emotional strain, combined with post-surgery effects, she explained, led to a flare-up of Bell’s palsy symptoms, resulting in temporary facial paralysis.

She added that she expects the condition to improve within days following treatment.

Despite the challenges, the N-Dubz star emphasized that her surgery was successful and that the cysts previously linked to her facial swelling have now been removed.

N-Dubz member also used her post to reflect on her broader health journey, noting improvements in her physical and emotional well-being, including quitting smoking and focusing on personal development.

She described the experience as part of a wider effort to share more “authentic” moments of her life, highlighting both struggles and progress.
