  • David Farr confirmed that a third season of The Night Manager is being written.
  • Tom Hiddleston will return as Jonathan Pine to complete the television trilogy.
  • The upcoming series aims to provide justice and redemption following a dark finale.

The creative team behind the acclaimed espionage thriller "The Night Manager" has confirmed that a third season is already in development, forming a planned trilogy.

During Deadline’s Contenders TV panel, creator and executive producer David Farr revealed that work is progressing on the final instalment, following the long-awaited second season.

Although it took a decade for the Prime Video and BBC series to return to television, Farr joked about the "weight of doom" regarding his writing duties while promising that fans would not have to wait quite so long for the conclusion.

Farr explained that the third series will address the "dark, concerning ending" of the second run, reflecting a modern world that feels increasingly tough.

"All of us want to see justice, redemption and we want to see something change," he remarked, noting a moral imperative to honour the story.

Leading man Tom Hiddleston, who returns as protagonist Jonathan Pine, described his character as a "crusader" who manages the world's darkness because he believes light should win.

Hiddleston admitted that "a trilogy feels tidy" and expressed his deep affection for inhabiting Pine's complex internal world.

Reflecting on the gap between iterations, Farr noted that there was originally no roadmap since John le Carré never wrote a sequel.

However, the author became "extremely willing" to see the story continue after the first season’s global success.

The second season introduced Teddy Dos Santos, a character secretly connected to Hugh Laurie's Richard Roper, providing a fresh emotional mission for Pine.
